About RSL

Built for creative identity, ownership, and consent in an AI world.

RSL Media

The nonprofit that puts the RSL standard into action

RSL Media connects creators, representatives, unions, and AI systems through one verified rights layer, serving artists of every medium, whether represented or independent.

We operate the RSL Media Registry: a verified public database of creative ownership, consent, and credit that AI platforms can query to understand what is allowed.

We empower creators by giving artists of every medium control over how their work and likeness are used and who to contact for permission.

We provide ethical infrastructure: a neutral framework for ethical AI and licensing, built by artists for artists.

RSL Standard

A shared language for creative rights

RSL is a nonprofit open standard for declaring and verifying creative rights. "Open standard" means its code and structure are publicly available and interoperable.

RSL provides a machine-readable way for AI systems to recognize who created a work, who owns it, and how it may or may not be used.

Every creative work receives a digital ID that says:

1

Here are my rights.

2

Here is who I am.

3

Here is what I allow or prohibit.

4

Here is how I am to be credited and compensated.

The Standard does not negotiate, license, or administer rights. It is simply a shared language that keeps creator intent crystal clear.

Team

Guided by builders who understand artists and platforms. The leadership team combines experience across entertainment, publishing, product, and engineering to advocate for artists while helping AI ecosystems respect consent.
